Located on the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research campus, BMW's Information Technology Research Center is an integral part of BMW's research and development network.  The ITRC provides an important platform within the BMW Group for joint innovation projects with leading IT companies in the US.  The 84,000-square-foot facility includes six secure research zones, IT operations center and research lab.

The BMW Group Information Technology Research Center is part of BMW's regional investment and partnership with the State of South Carolina.  At the ITRC, mechanical, electrical, computer engineers and students - both from BMW, the IT industry and universities - are working in an open innovation model on exciting proof of concepts and pilot projects where IT innovations move automotive solutions forward.

The 118,000 square foot Collaboration 3 building hosts Koyo Bearings USA, a division of the JTEKT group.  Koyo Bearings USA was formed when JTEKT purchased the needle roller bearing portion of the Torrington Company from Timken in 2009.  Globally, JTEKT is a leading manufacturer of steering systems, driveline components, bearings, and machine tools, with operations in 70 locations and sales of $11 Billion. The Koyo Bearings division provides industry-leading technology in roller bearings and related assemblies for automotive and other industrial sectors.  The Greenville Technical Center at CU-ICAR is Koyo Bearings' primary location for needle bearing design and technology development including prototyping, product testing, and manufacturing process development.

Through its significant investment in South Carolina, the 1,150-acre campus generates its own power on-site and offers fully equipped medical facilities, including an on-site pharmacy.

Currently 2.5 million square feet, BMW will expand to 4 million-square-foot to produce the next generation BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle.
